Traffic Citations / Court Information

Traffic Citation Court Dates
The date indicated on your citation is the date of your initial appearance. An initial appearance is your opportunity to enter a plea to the charge. You may plead guilty, no contest, or not guilty. The initial appearance is not a trial date. If you plead guilty or no contest, the court will find you guilty and the matter will be resolved on this date. If you plead not guilty, your case will be scheduled for a pretrial conference to be held at a later date.

Non-Mandatory Appearances
If the date on your citation is not a mandatory appearance and you wish to plead not guilty, you may do this by mail or fax prior to the date on your citation. You may send your plea by mail to 517 Court Street, Room 405, Neillsville, WI 54456 or by fax to (715) 743-5187. Please include a copy of your citation and your current address along with your plea. This must be received prior to the date on your citation. A date for a telephonic pretrial conference will be mailed to you.
